Screenshot Sleuth GPT Privacy Policy

Effective Date:

Last Updated:

This Privacy Policy explains how Screenshot Sleuth handles your data when you use the tool to analyze and verify the authenticity of uploaded screenshots.

By using this tool, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Who We Are

Screenshot Sleuth is a forensic AI-powered tool that helps users determine if a screenshot has been digitally altered, tampered with, or AI-generated. It operates via OpenAI’s ChatGPT platform with backend integrations such as Pipedream workflows and metadata analysis APIs.

This tool is independently maintained by a single developer, John Paul B. Bantigue. However, this policy uses “we” for consistency and to reflect the tool’s integration with trusted third-party services.

2. What Data We Collect

When you use Screenshot Sleuth, we may temporarily collect or process the following types of data:

  • Uploaded Images (e.g., screenshots you submit)
  • Image Metadata (EXIF data, file information)
  • Forensic Results (ELA or AI detection results processed by third-party APIs)
  • User Prompts (questions or requests you type in)

We do not collect personal identifiers such as your name, email, IP address, or location.

3. How Your Data Is Used

We use the submitted image and prompt content only for the following purposes:

  • To analyze the image’s metadata and structure
  • To provide a forensic report (e.g., authenticity verdict)
  • To optionally offer educational information about metadata or editing traces

Once processed, your image and data are not stored or reused.

Before using third-party analysis services (like our Pipedream integration), the GPT will always ask for your consent to proceed. No image is sent externally without your confirmation.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following platforms or services to process and deliver results:

  • OpenAI ChatGPT – For interpreting and generating analysis reports
  • Pipedream – To connect input/output workflows and APIs
  • Metadata and ELA Analysis APIs – For reading EXIF data and performing error level analysis

These services may temporarily access data for processing but do not retain it permanently, according to their respective terms of service.

5. Data Storage & Retention

We do not retain uploaded images or metadata beyond the scope of the immediate analysis session.

No content is saved on servers managed by Screenshot Sleuth or the GPT creator. However, OpenAI and Pipedream may store logs briefly for system performance or debugging, subject to their privacy practices.

6. Your Rights and Choices

  • You are free to use or refrain from using Screenshot Sleuth at any time.
  • Do not upload sensitive, private, or personally identifiable images.
  • You may contact us if you believe a testing log or input should be removed (for example, during beta testing).

7. Children’s Privacy

Screenshot Sleuth is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.

8. Security

While we take steps to use secure platforms (OpenAI, Pipedream), please note that any data transmitted online carries some risk. Do not upload confidential or sensitive information.
