Breathing Color into Linework: A Tribute to Jonboy Meyers
She-Hulk by Jonboy Meyers is a personal vector and color exploration of the artist’s original line art from DeviantArt. Meyers is a San Francisco-based concept artist and illustrator whose vivid, kinetic style has graced video games, comics, animation, and toy design. His work includes standout contributions to League of Legends, the Spawn reboot, and several Teen Titans and Inhumans projects.
Digital Inks & Colors
Working in Photoshop, I digitally inked and colored this piece—my typical approach when recreating line art for a more stylized finish. I started by vectoring the lines to sharpen the silhouette and give the character a cleaner edge, then applied flat colors to build out a bolder, comic-style aesthetic. I always save the black-and-white version before laying in the color, so I can compare how each one affects tone and character.
This process is what I call my version of digitally inked and colored—a technique I use to retain the dynamic energy of the original piece while adding my own flavor. The She-Hulk in this version retains her trademark strength and presence, with hues that pay homage to the original while sharpening the overall presentation.
