A Simple WordPress Build for a Lasting Legacy
This simple yet purposeful WordPress site was built for the Percy Baxter Trust, part of Baxter IP’s continued commitment to honoring legacy through philanthropy. Designed as a clean one-page layout, the site was created to present the story and contributions of John Percy Hamilton Baxter OBE in a timeless, respectful way—while keeping performance, accessibility, and SEO top of mind.
From the beginning, the focus was clarity. The trust had a rich story to tell, but didn’t require a complex build. Instead, I implemented a streamlined structure that made it easy for visitors to learn about the trust’s history, mission, and funding opportunities—all in one scroll.
Purposeful Simplicity, with Strong Foundations
The single-page layout follows a linear structure anchored by a fixed top navigation. Visitors are guided through:
- An introduction to Percy Baxter OBE, with a historical portrait from 1935
- A timeline of legacy contributions from the Baxter family
- Information on the Percy Baxter Charitable Trust and Baxter Charitable Foundation
- Present-day funding support and grantmaking activities
- Resources for grant applicants and those looking to donate
Visually, the site sticks to clean typography and subtle layout shifts to preserve hierarchy. It’s deliberately minimalist, optimized for both desktop and mobile.
SEO Optimization for a Low-Maintenance Site
While this WordPress build was intentionally lightweight, I still applied essential SEO principles. These include:
