Introduction

Heto is a concept album mock-up featuring a collection of some of my favorite pieces I had written at the time. The All-American Rejects’ Move Along album design, particularly the notes and scribbles, influenced the layout and design. This project visually represents my deep connection with music, faith, and personal reflections.

Heto: A Concept Album Mock-up

JP is a dreamer, songwriter and storyteller

I wanted to create a layout that mirrors who I am. This idea led me to incorporate elements that represent my interests, possessions, and emotions. I kept the design simple and minimalistic to focus on these personal symbols.

Design Process and Inspirations

Each artwork element in the album represents a piece of my journey:

Barbed-wire bracelet // Guitar Capo and Picks

December 28, 2005

The barbed-wire bracelet represents my affinity for sad songs and melancholic themes, which are prevalent in my writing. Meanwhile, the capo and guitar picks reflect my passion for music and songwriting.

Zero is a song I wrote about myself, with Kristerie’s version (Zero Version 2) offering an alternate perspective. The song Away, positioned near the barbed wire, explores themes of misunderstandings and conflicts.

Bulalakaw

January 3, 2006

The polaroid represents an inspiration or a loved one. At the time, it wasn’t dedicated to anyone in particular but symbolized an ever-present muse.

The song Bulalakaw is a tribute to a deviant artist of the same name, who also appears in the polaroid artwork. The song Adarna sits near the polaroid because it tells the story of a mythical bird capable of turning people into stone, symbolizing someone with a transformative effect.

Rosary

January 7, 2006

Laid out beside the rosary, the songs Heto and Gawarasal reflect my faith and belief in a higher power.

Bracelets, Livestrong Baller Band, Naruto-colored Converse shoes

December 26, 2005

The bracelets, Livestrong baller band, and Naruto-colored Converse shoes serve as more personal touches, each representing different aspects of my identity.

Artwork Development

These pieces came together over nearly two years, culminating in the full album design in 2007. The evolution of this project reflects my artistic growth and emotional journey.

Conclusion

Heto serves as a visual and lyrical time capsule of my creative journey. It encapsulates the emotions, inspirations, and artistic vision I had at the time. The songs featured in this mock-up are now part of My Book Project, preserving the essence of this work for years to come.
