Wearable message against toxic normalcy
What does it really mean to be ‘normal’?
This design came from a place of quiet rebellion—sparked by something I see way too often, especially here in the Philippines: how being normal is treated like the ultimate goal, even when it doesn’t make sense.
People crossing the highway in places with no pedestrian lanes. Throwing trash on the sidewalk because “everyone does it.” Speaking disrespectfully or taking shortcuts because it’s just how things are. At some point, I had to ask: when did normal become the standard for right?
Breaking the rules when the rules are broken
According to the dictionary, normal means “conforming to a standard.” But if the standard is flawed, isn’t following it part of the problem?
This shirt was my way of confronting that. A reminder that not all rules deserve to be followed—and that sometimes, doing what’s right means not going with the flow. If the status quo is full of holes, maybe the real rebellion is thinking for yourself.
We don’t have to spit on sidewalks, cheat on tests, or keep quiet when we witness wrong, just because others do. We don’t have to “fit in” if it means shrinking our conscience. Normal isn’t the goal—integrity is.
