A Modern Refresh for a Legacy Layout
The Allied Metals Website Redesign project represents two distinct phases of evolution. I designed both versions as part of our internal initiatives at BUILD—each one addressing different user experience goals and layout challenges.
Allied Metals is a foodservice kitchen contractor that handles everything from fabrication to installation of stainless steel kitchen systems. The first version I designed made it to production, and while it was a functional leap from their original layout, it still carried some limitations in terms of scalability and adaptability.
From Static Blocks to Seamless Flow

Allied Metals Website
Older redesign
The earlier redesign took a more conventional approach, utilizing a boxed layout across multiple pages. While clean and professional, it wasn’t fully responsive in the way modern users expect. That inspired me to revisit the concept with a more forward-thinking mindset.
Allied Metals Website Redesign
New and improved, single-page layout
The new redesign moves toward a single-page layout, with better sectioning, focused content flow, and optimized use of white space. This format lets the narrative guide the user, placing emphasis where it matters—whether it’s their latest projects, key differentiators, or company story.
- Single-page experience: The redesign eliminates page-hopping, streamlining the user journey.
- Content hierarchy: Thoughtfully rearranged sections guide visitors from value proposition to contact without overwhelming them.
- Adaptive layout: Designed to scale across devices, fixing issues the first version couldn’t quite address.
- Stronger brand identity: Minimal yet distinct visual motifs highlight Allied Metals’ strength in quality and service.

While this second redesign didn’t go into production, it remains one of my favorite exercises in refining and modernizing UI/UX based on real user needs and legacy feedback.
