2 Sisters, written and illustrated by Matt Kindt, is about four stories intertwined together. Set in the Second World War, the main story focuses on Elle, one of two sisters, who became a European spy after her lover died in a bombing. The story also explores Elle and Anna’s relationship and the secrets that they share. Another story tackles the origin of a twin-mouthed vase and the journey of a pirate-turned prisoner.
One of the things I liked about this book was the way its scenes were drawn. Branching out into different panels, the artwork depicted different events happening at the same time. Even without words in most pages, the drawing could very well tell the story in itself. The art style isn’t really the best that I’ve seen, but the emotions in the characters are very real.
